World Environment Day- June 5

Eradication of environmental challenges will take time but preventing and making an effort to protect the environment is something we as a company and as individuals must do. We owe it to our city and our children’s future.  Increasing number of waste at landfill sites in the city are affecting the quality of ground water  and is a scourge for health issues in neighbouring areas.Garbage segregation and using organic waste converters in societies or vermicompost pits are immediate measures that could be taken.

Disposal of sewage in appropriate waste treatment plants by municipality and private contractors would be a great assistance to reduce rivers getting polluted and also contamination of drinking water would be reduced and related illnesses avoided. Using automated waste/sewage carting vehicles with state of the art technology to prevent leakages and spilling would not only be a better environmental solution but also a social benefit and hygiene improvement factor is something we follow at 3S and would be happy to share our best practices.

Treatment and recycling of waste water from septic tanks can be used instead of fresh water for agriculture and garden application in urban areas. Using Eco friendly materials like polyethylene for toilets, bins, boxes, trays etc  is a better solution than using a non recyclable material which adds to landfills and is extremely difficult to degrade or clean up. At 3S we use HDPE and other eco friendly measures and are happy to offer these to our patrons.

Innovations in renewable energy and technology to convert waste to electricity or gas are some of the sustainable techniques one can use at a micro level. As an organisation we have been trying to follow all the above to try and become a zero discharge and low carbon footprint company to ensure the city sustains the shocks and crises related to urbanization in time to come.

What we can do as individuals-

Using eco friendly materials like polyethylene for toilets, bins, boxes, trays etc is a better solution than using a non recyclable material which adds to landfills and is extremely difficult to degrade or clean up.

Basic things like cycling to work, using public transport or car pooling to work would benefit our environment.

Using CFL and LED lights, saving water, planting and nurturing trees can reduce the environmental impact considerably.

What 3S is doing-

Innovations in renewable energy and technology to convert waste to electricity or gas are some of the sustainable techniques one can use at a micro level. As an organisation we have been trying to follow all the above to try and become a zero discharge and low carbon footprint company to ensure the city sustains the shocks and crises related to urbanisation in time to come.
